He knows my name!
My life verse: "I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel." (Isaiah 45:3). For me, "the treasures of darkness" has been the medically-treated depression that I have suffered off and on with for years. More than anything else in my life, I think this has made me realize how much my Savior loves me and has deepened my relationship with God. The "hidden riches of secret places" are my wonderful family and this fabulous craft--tatting! I thank God for both!
I think it is awesome that God knows my name! Did you know that He knows yours?

Tatting with Metallic Kreinik Threads
Kreinik donated enough spools of their metallic braid for each lady at the get-together at Sonya's house to have one. (See post on 12/13/15) Recently Mr. Doug Kreinik contacted me (I got thanked for a thank you note!) and asked if any of the ladies had photos of their tatted projects with the Kreinik thread. I haven't been able to contact all the ladies yet, but I sent him a photo of my creative effort with their metallic braid. Mine was color
5805, and was a Tapestry Braid#12. The jewelry finding in the center
came from Hobby Lobby. I did not follow a pattern, but was inspired by
some rounds out of a pattern by Marilee Rockley called Arches Doily ( http://yarnplayertats.blogspot.com/2009/01/arches-doily.html ).

Wunderschön!
ReplyDeleteLieben Gruß Conny
English Translation:Very beautiful!
DeleteKind regards Conny
Thank you! (I hope this is correct!) Vielen Dank!
Very pretty! So is this Kreinik braid a metallic and cotton combination? I don't have any of their braids, but I used to use the metallics a lot. I combined them with cotton threads to give the finished pieces a bit of sparkle.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it is cotton--it feels like it. I know on their website that they carry many specialty threads like silk--so I don't want to say for certain. I do know the metallic is incorporated in such a way that I had no problem with it breaking, and it didn't separate from the thread--problems I have had with working with metallic threads in the past.
Fabulous pendant!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLovely pendant, gorgeous thread, not used this thread, and not sure if it's on sale in the uk, will have a look next time I go to the local wool shop she has a lot of different threads similar to this, of which I. Have never thought of tatting with.

Thank you. I tried to paste a picture of the spools of thread that I have so that you would know what to look for but blogger wouldn't let me. They are 2 inches long and black plastic. I have bought a variety of the spools in gorgeous colors over the years hoping someday to create something with them, but this is the first time I have tried it. There is only enough thread on a spool for a small project! I have #4 Very Fine Braid (11 meters), #8 Fine Braid (10 meters) #12 Tapestry Braids (10 meters), Japan Thread #7 (5 meters) and Cord (25 meters) on this size spool. I have been told by other tatters that the best to tat with is the size 8 and 12 braids.
ReplyDeleteNice job. How cool that you received free thread from Kreinik.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am beginning to enjoy "seeing what I can make" and "doing my own thing" when I tat!
ReplyDeleteI was very surprised at how kind and openhearted many of the people/companies were that donated things for our goodie bags for our small gathering! Kreinik was the first(!) to respond of all those I contacted--and they sent such beautiful thread in gorgeous colors--how generous!
