He knows my name!

My life verse: "I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel." (Isaiah 45:3). For me, "the treasures of darkness" has been the medically-treated depression that I have suffered off and on with for years. More than anything else in my life, I think this has made me realize how much my Savior loves me and has deepened my relationship with God. The "hidden riches of secret places" are my wonderful family and this fabulous craft--tatting! I thank God for both!
I think it is awesome that God knows my name! Did you know that He knows yours?

Senior Graduation Gifts

My Dear Husband just finished his thirty-first year of teaching higher math and computers at the local high school.  He interned there the year before he was hired--and that year saw the very first graduating class.

As we will celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary in a few weeks, I ought to know by now, that he will wait until the week or week before graduation to ask me for tatted gifts for all of his "special" graduating seniors.  Bless his heart, he was true to form this year...but at least he knew exactly what he wanted.

He requested figure #58 from Patti Duff's Mini-Tat's book made into a small bookmark.  The bookmarks were made out of Lizbeth size 20, color 671--Christmas Red.  The crosses were an inch and a half long, the bare cord was three inches, and the tassel was an inch and a half long.  After a week and a half of tatting my fingers to the bone, they are all ready for graduation tonight.

    1. I know there were not as many as in years past....I'd say less than a dozen. He would pick them up off of my table in the morning and take them to school, so I lost count during the days we had the grandsons at the house (they are 3 and 2 months--and my tatting doesn't get much focus those days.) He starts off the year with "I need __" then "I need 1 more", then "well, I don't need__" and "__ is retiring" and "I need __more" and I don't need __". So I just tat until he says "'QUIT."

My biggest problem is I have chronic migraines and severe headaches (I'm talking 5 days a week--I see a pain management specialist) and sometimes it helps to focusing on tatting helps get my mind off the pain, and sometimes I just can't focus at all and can't tat to save my life!

  3. Lovely crosses, love the colour, I hope your fingers are not too sore from tatting, funny I had an order for 12 snowflakes but she wanted them like last week and my poor fingers worked to the bone, I delivered the snowflakes in two halfs only to be told I was not fast enough, what do poeple think we are machines, hand made is made by fingers.
I hope you manage to keep on top of the amount he wants and they all appreciate yours efforts and his gifts.
